A Natural Difference Maker: Nick’s Story
Excited to experience his first job, Nick came to employU with tons of enthusiasm and ready to start his career journey. His Employment Specialist, Kailee, took Nick to Publix for an interview pretty soon after meeting him. Kailee prepared Nick by giving him interview tips for a position that involved customer service. Employment Specialists will not only assist clients in looking for and applying to job openings, they will also assist them with transportation to interviews and, as Kailee did for Nick, coach and advise clients on how to have a more successful interview experience. Nick took the tips Kailee gave him and did very well during his interview. He was hired on the spot!
Working as a front service clerk, Nick was nervous about interacting with customers and employees so regularly. But as soon as he was employed with Publix and started bagging groceries, he came out of his shell and put his best foot forward to make sure that customers have a great experience shopping at the store. And with the slogan “Where Shopping is a Pleasure,” it’s not a surprise that fantastic customer service is valued at the large grocery chain.
His manager has even commented that Nick is always smiling, willing to help, and waving at everyone in the parking lot when collecting carts. He truly brings an upbeat, positive attitude to work every day. After only a month of working at the store, Nick received a difference-maker card. This card is given to employees in recognition of going above and beyond for the customer and in their job duties. Nick enjoys his new job at Publix and hopes that he will eventually be promoted to stock clerk. We think Nick is well on his way to achieving any career goal he may have in the future.
