Andrew Schwab

Position: Employment Services Adult Program Developer

My name is Andrew Schwab and I was born and raised on Long Island, New York. I have been supporting individuals with disabilities on varying levels for most of my professional career. Yet even at a young age, I noticed I had a natural tendency to advocate for individuals whether it was as early as my days babysitting children
with autism or with the special education department in high school. I started my career working for a nonprofit
agency as a Supervisor for a Day Habilitation program. I was responsible for designing a curriculum to better assist individuals to build and develop important life skills to prepare them to be more independent. I also worked as an
Employment Specialist providing services and vocational support through customized employment. I graduated from SUNY Purchase College with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Human Services and Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University. One of my passions includes sports and I have played baseball and
volleyball most of my life. Working together as a team taught me valuable life lessons which continue to help me not only in my personal life but also in my professional work. It taught me the importance of working with a team and realizing that each player can provide something instrumental to the team leading to our success. I am beyond excited to begin my journey with employU and to continue to advocate for neurodivergent individuals.
