Position: Discovery Specialist

For more than 20 years, I have been working with individuals with disabilities through almost every support method. Beginning in 1999 as a Paraprofessional in Martin County Schools, I found my path that changed my life forever. Prior to working in a self-contained classroom, I had my sights set on a life of music including joining the Florida Army National Guard’s 13th Army Band. After my medical discharge, I still wanted to work in music and was pursing my education to become a band director. Working in the school with both the band students and students with IEPs, I found where my passion would best be used. I quickly changed my focus and never turned back.

Over these past 20 years, I have filled the role of direct support staff, Residential Director overseeing six group homes, Community Services Director overseeing all Medicaid Community-based Services, owner of an Agency providing Medicaid-waiver Services, County Director for Special Olympics, and finally landing at employU where I have been the Transition Coordinator for the Treasure Coast and now Discovery Specialist. I have been certified as a Behavior Technician, Discovery Specialist and Customized Employment Certified, Supported Living Coach, Supported Employment Coach, and Staff Trainor for Crisis Prevention International (CPI). I bring all of this knowledge to our clients and our staff to help build the strongest resources for our clients to be their most successful.

Aside from my duties with employU, I serve as the Chairperson for the Treasure Coast Interagency Transition Council (TCITC). Working alongside all of the schools and other community agencies to help bring the Treasure Coast Community of Services together. Bringing awareness to the community of the needs of all individuals and building relationships with businesses to allow for understanding that everyone has the ability to work

To continue with my first passion of music, I am the President of the Board of Directors for New Gardens Band and Indian River Pops Orchestra. My love of music and knowledge of working in the community with several not-for-profits has provided me with the ability to lead these groups to become successful and impactful programs within our community.
