My name is Katie Matthews, and I joined the employU team in July 2018 as a Job Coach. Since then, my job responsibilities have increased as an Employment Specialist. I thoroughly enjoy my job here as it affords me the opportunity to do what I love, helping people. It has been such a rewarding experience to assist clients in finding jobs and sometimes assist them in their training. Also, to assist employers in attaining qualified and enthusiastic employees. 

I hail from this great state, Florida, and this great city of Jacksonville. I have lived here my entire life. I have a wealth of knowledge about the history, the diversity, and progress that has occurred within this city. It provides me with a valuable resource of connections to better assist and prosper those I work with on both sides, future employees and employers. 

I have worked within the service industry for over ten years. This has included Case Manager/Job Coach at Career Source and as a Team Leader Customer Service Representative at Goodwill of North Florida. Both of these positions afforded me opportunity to assist individuals with disabilities in finding employment, on-the-job training, and supervision of these job responsibilities. At CareerSource, it was important to speak with clients to determine what their employment goals and realities were, training needs, and how to move them towards successful completion of both. I was responsible for ensuring they were equipped with necessary skills, including but not limited to resume writing, mock interviews, work readiness skills, and completing job applications. On the other hand, Goodwill of North Florida afforded me the opportunity to assist clients on the job and ensure that they were successful in their job and attaining new skill sets during employment. 

I love learning and enjoy helping people attain their goals.
