Megan Rivera

Position: Admin Support of Vocational Services

My name is Megan Rivera, Transition Youth Services Admin Support associate at employU. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I have two amazing children, my son, Hayden, and my daughter, Ava. My passion for wanting to assist people with disabilities comes from advocating for my son who was diagnosed with autism and is nonverbal. Being his voice and standing up for his needs awakened a passion to advocate and be the voice for others. I’m a firm believer that no matter the disability everyone should be given an equal chance to receive the same opportunities and access to the career of their choice. I started my career in the United States Army providing assistance, and guidance to Soldiers with a variety of behavioral and other disabilities the tools to obtain a successful career and life outside of the Military. After my career in the Military, I decided to stay on the same career path of helping others. I’ve held positions as a Child and Youth Services Assistant, where I planned, coordinated, and conducted activities that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of program participants. I also held a position as a Behavioral Health Assistant, where I helped clients with job seeking, preparation for interviews, and worked one on one with clients with disabilities to fulfill employment and education requirements. I am ecstatic to be given the opportunity to work with employU. I look forward to assisting in the process of providing opportunities to the community and each individual coming through the program and watching them flourish.
