An increase in demand for skilled workers and employees is a trend we have seen over the past few years. Labor shortages not only affect businesses in every industry, they also affect the workforce as a whole. This is where finding the right fit for both businesses and job seekers becomes instrumental in creating successful solutions for all. Both benefit from the vacant positions not only being filled, but being filled by new hires who will be there for the long haul. This is where employU can help.

Known for being a one-stop-shop for disability employment services, employU has provided long-term, sustainable solutions for job seekers, businesses, and local communities across the state of Florida.  With over a decade of experience in matching job-seekers with successful career paths, employU has offices throughout the Jacksonville area and offers services both virtually and in-person.

The Jacksonville area is also home to one of employU’s industry-specific programs. This specialized program focuses on the specific skills needed for different trades within the construction industry. Through this program, participants can earn valuable industry certifications, such as OSHA-10, while gaining experience within the industry during paid on-the-job trainings. Not only do participants gain skillsets and qualifications, but the on-the-job training can also act as a foot in the door within the industry or even their host business.

At employU, we know it’s more than just a job search. It’s our goal to best service our clients with resources, career opportunities, and support needed to obtain sustainable, long-term employment. “It’s not just a job search, it’s a support system that helps identify a person’s strength and abilities to secure long-term employment that is fulfilling and rewarding,” explains Executive Director, Keith Bourkney.

At the same time, we aim to facilitate an inclusive workforce that adds value to our communities and businesses.  We also aid businesses in finding employees who add value to their workforce. For example, our on-the-job trainings provide host businesses with a risk-free solution to fill gaps within their workforce.  These programs allow host businesses to have employU clients work for their business and gain experience while employU pays the wages.  As an additional part of the program, ongoing support is available with an employU Job Coach checking in with the customer and their supervisor. The Job coach is there to assist in any challenges and suggest solutions if needed.

At employU, our mission is to continually foster and strengthen an inclusive workforce through our variety of tailored services. For more on our services visit https://employu.org/client-services/ or visit https://employu.org/business-partners/ to learn how to become an employU business partner.
