Your Path to Employment
Turn Challenges into Opportunities
Any time people work closely together, frustrations can arise. The most important thing you can do is remember not to lose your temper. Whenever frustration comes your way, don’t ever let your temper cloud your judgment.
- Accept criticism as constructive
- Turn criticism into a positive experience instead of becoming angry
- Do not become defensive or take a challenge personally
- Thank the person for their input and consider their suggestion
If you find yourself getting frustrated, bite your tongue until after work. Talk confidentially with trusted friends or family, and especially your employU job coach, outside of the workplace. Sometimes just talking a situation through with someone can help. Often they will have some ideas about how to think about the situation in another light, or will be able to give you strategies for how to approach the situation.
If you are not able to easily resolve the issue, consider speaking directly with your manager or supervisor, or with the person in the company that handles human resources or employee relations.
