Working with the Big Dogs – Shawanna’s Story

Shawanna is a client that comes from difficult circumstances without much support. She has a deep passion for animals, is fantastic with dogs, and has worked as a regular volunteer with the Humane Society.   

Through another employment agency, Shawanna worked a job in retail but longed to work with animals.  After coming to employU and being connected with her Employment Specialist Susan, Shawanna expressed her love for animals as Susan began the process of finding the best work experience placement for Shawanna.   

With Susan’s help, Shawanna has been able to follow her love for animals and gain experience working at Big Dog Ranch Rescue. She currently works in the medical area providing care for many dogs and handles the very big dogs with ease. Shawanna looks forward to getting up and working with the dogs every day.  She is enjoying her work experience and explains, “I love working at Big Dog Ranch. I love working with the dogs and have made a lot of friends!”
