Join Us for Shopability with ConnectableJax!

employU is proud to partner with ConnectableJax in an exciting initiative called Shopability Saturday.  The event takes place citywide in Jacksonville on Saturday, March 6th. Shopability Saturday celebrates inclusiveness by urging support for local businesses that employ people with Autism, Down syndrome, and other intellectual and developmental differences (IDDs).

These local businesses have learned that hiring someone with an IDD is not only a rewarding experience, it can also be a smart business decision. Research has shown that employees with IDDs tend to be reliable, take less sick days, and be less likely to be in work-related accidents. They also may be able to excel at tasks where others can’t.

Other benefits to hiring people with IDDs include tax credits and no cost services provided by non-profits such as employU.  When hiring an employU client, both the business and the client benefit from services like assistance identifying suitable work, assistance with onboarding, and onsite job coaching.

ConnectableJax is making it simple and easy to participate in this event. Go to connectablejax.com/shopability to view their interactive map that features businesses in the area that employ people with IDDs.  You will also find a comprehensive event guide where you can hear from business leaders, gain further understanding about the power of language and opportunity, and learn more about the Jacksonville’s commitment to inclusive employment opportunities.

Interested in participating? Don’t forget to take the #ShopabilityJax Challenge.  Enter the challenge for a chance to win one of two $100 Visa cards! For more information on how to enter the Shopability Saturday go to https://connectablejax.com/shopability/.
